Tourist attractions in Australia
are many and widely spread throughout the
states and territories of The Commonwealth of Australia. Many visitors focus
on Sydney as they know of the Sydney Opera House and the Taronga Park Zoo,
Manly ferries to Manly Beach, and of course the infamous Bondi Beach. Sydney
also
has Sydney Tower at Centrepoint and Darling Harbour as well as the harbour itself.
Inland you will find The Blue Mountains with the 3 sisters rock formations.
Melbourne is known for its
sporting venues, the MCG, The Melbourne Cup and for its restaurants
and European style al fresco eating places, similar to those you will find in
Fremantle
which is a largely Italian influenced sea port in Western Australia. Greek,
Italian, Lebanese,
Turkish and Slavic ethnic groups have added their delicious flavours to the
cities right
throughout Australia.
The country is a melting
pot for the world, exactly as The United States and
the UK are! The world is slowly becoming unified.
The Northern Territory has
many aboriginal sites and communities. The world's largest rock
is 'Uluru' or Ayers Rock which stands out as a red rock from hundreds of miles
away.
It has witnessed aboriginal life for well over forty thousand years. You can
take a train
journey through the very interior of Australia, and the luxury train is known
as 'The Ghan.'
Western Australia is only
sparsely populated and has immense natural resources, such as gold,
iron ore, uranium, oil and natural gas. There are massive mines in the state
and one gold mine
at Kalgoorlie is a must see: The Super Pit. Tourists love the port city of Fremantle
which has two
old prisons and its famous 'cappucchino strip' of alfresco dining. There's also
a very old market
and several maritime museums. The shopping in Fremantle reveals unique and artistic
items from a
variety of ethnic origins.
Perth, capital city of Western
Australia is known for the Swan River meandering through it, from
the wine growing area of Upper Swan. There is a huge botanical park overlooking
the City of Perth
from the Western side: Kings Park. Tourists love walks and picnics in the park,
especially during
the wild flower season. Perth has an international casino, the Burswood Resort,
and a large new
convention center. Many believe that Perth is possibly the cleanest, freshest
and most liveable
city in the entire world. It is also the most isolated and car dependent capital
city in Australia.
